This is great. These lines hit me hard:

"(are you tired? you’ve met someone?

how many questions is that?

(you called to talk

yes. no

(I’m all ears

I’ve been back in montana. for awhile now

(not tonight

not tonight"

Thank you Casey! I’m so glad this piece resonated for you. It is maybe my own favorite of all I’ve ever written 💙🙏

Great read. I really enjoyed the format of this. Felt my brain tingle and heard myself go "mhmmmm" aloud as I read

"no it’s never painful, it just doesn’t feel right"

Feels like a thesis for the piece in the best way

I felt a thud in my chest!

“(what do you miss?

all kinds a things. your coffee.”

A poem about mountains, salt lakes, traveling, and the first thing you miss is coffee. I think we all miss the coffee (it’s not about the coffee).

Ever since I finished this piece, I’ve felt like it is the deepest and happiest thing I’ve maybe ever written. Let them be happy tears ☺️💙🙏
